你因為我不是一個愛慕虛榮與畏懼權勢的人,所以你想見我。

因此現在你應該主動過來我這邊,這樣才能夠表現出你的謙卑啊。

 

國王聽到這些話,不知道如何應答。

(顏斶)此時又接著說。

 

中國從古至今有許多的國王,但其中有大成就而且讓後代所紀念的國王,都有一個共同的特質,就是他們都很謙卑。

 

他們遇到自己不懂的事情,就會去請教別人的意見。縱使這個人的地位很卑下。

他們只要發現別人的學識比自已高,就會謙卑地去請教這些有學問的人。

他們身分高貴但是卻不驕傲,他們用行動表現出自已的對於道德崇高之人的尊敬。

 

國王聽完這些話後,他對(顏斶)很恭敬的鞠躬。
