We wait patiently for a better time (按兵不動)
During the Warring States Period in China,
the prime minister of the Qin Kingdom (Lu Buwei) edited a set of books.
There is a story in the book.
There was a nobleman in the Jin Kingdom
whose name was (Zhao Jianzi).
He plans to attack the Wei Kingdom. Wei
Kingdom is a small kingdom.
He first sent a spy named (Shi Mo) to (Wei
Kingdom) to collect information.
Six months later, (Simo) came back.
(Zhao Jianzi) asked. Why have you been
there for so long.
(Simo) answered. ˊI spent a lot of time collecting opinions from many people.
Based on my observation over the past six
months, I suggest that we must abandon this offensive plan.
The king of the Wei Kingdom appointed
several very talented people to assist him in managing the Wei Kingdom.
He also hired the famous scholar Confucius
as his adviser.
The people of the Wei Kingdom lived very
well and they all supported the king.
We are not only unable to gain benefits
from attacking the Wei Kingdom, but it will also cause us great losses.
(Zhao Jianzi) After listening to (Shi Mo)'s
briefing.
He said after thinking about it.
Okay, let's not take action yet.
This idiom is used to remind us that we
must observe clearly the changes in the situation before taking action.
Dear friend, what inspiration or thoughts
did you have after hearing this story.
Before you make a major decision, what
preparations do you make in advance? Are you patient enough to wait for a
better time?
I hope this story will give you some new
gains.
(We wait patiently for a better time)
