This pie is not real(畫餅充飢)

In the Three Kingdoms era in China.

The king of the Wei Kingdom sent any minister to be responsible for the selection, assessment, appointment and removal of officials throughout the kingdom.

The minister's name is (Lu Yu).

Before he officially took office,

The king said to him.

Your position is very important, and I fully authorize it to you. It is up to you to decide which person you want to hold in that position.

But I only remind you of one thing, that is, when you are looking for suitable talents, don't just look for those famous people.

Fame is like a pie drawn on the ground with a stick. This pie is not real.

(Lu Yu) answered.

You are right, king, but I have other opinions.

Although a person’s fame does not necessarily match his abilities,

But fame is still an important basis for finding talent.

A person's fame may be because he is really talented, so he is respected by everyone.

I suggest this should be done.

We should hire these famous people to serve our kingdom.

At the same time, we must establish a performance appraisal system in our bureaucracy.

When these people enter the bureaucracy, we can use this clear performance appraisal system to assess whether everyone is really talented.

We should let the system manage these talents instead of using personal emotions to manage these talents.

The king answered.

Your suggestion is very good, just do as you say.

You should complete this fair and enforceable performance appraisal system as soon as possible.

This idiom is used to remind us that we must take practical actions if we want to really solve the problem.

Dear friend, what inspiration or thoughts did you have after hearing this story.

If you are a leader, how do you make your subordinates have the same work goals as you? After you establish a system, will you consider that the system also needs assessment?

I hope this story will give you some new gains.

(This pie is not real)
