a famous minister whose name was (Zhai Gong).
When he assumed the position of the Supreme
Judge, many visitors visited him every day.
His home is very lively, like a market.
A few years later, he was fired.
Since he left this position, the number of
visitors in his home has decreased day by day, and in the end no one came to
visit him at all.
His home is very quiet, and you can even
hear the chirping of birds.
A few years later, he was reappointed as
the Supreme Judge by the King.
When he resumed this important position,
many visitors began to appear in his home.
He saw these snobs. He felt very annoying.
He wrote a few words and posted them on his
door.
In the face of life and death, after
experiencing wealth and poverty, we can know the true character of each person,
and also know who we should make friends with.
This idiom is used to mean that there are
no visitors in a person's home.
