His test score is a little worse than mine(名落孫山)
There was a man from the Song Dynasty in
China, and his name was (Sun Shan).
He is one of the few people in Chinese
history who is remembered by everyone because of a story.
He lives in Jiangsu Province, China. He
went to Nanjing to take the imperial examination with a good friend from his
hometown.
This is the most important system in
ancient China for selecting officials through examinations.
After the exam, they stayed near the exam
room and waited.
After about two months, the admission list
was finally announced.
He was very happy because he was admitted,
even though he was the last one on the admission list.
But his good friend was very sad because he
was not admitted.
He said to his good friend.
Let's go home first. Don't be so sad.
Said his good friend.
Go back by yourself. I am in a bad mood. I
want to be alone for a few days. I want to go to other places to relax.
He went home by himself.
After he returned to his hometown, he
happened to meet his good friend's father.
The father of his good friend asked him.
You are back. Then why didn't I see my son.
He replied.
Your son said he would go to another place
to play for a few days before coming back.
The father of his good friend asked him.
What is the result of my son's exam? Did he
pass the exam?
He looked at the look of expectation on the
face of his friend's elderly father.
He didn't know how to answer.
Ten seconds later, he answered.
I am the last one on the admission list in
this exam.
Said his friend's father.
That's great, what about my son.
He replied.
His grades are a little bit worse than
mine.
This idiom is used to describe a person who
is not admitted to the exam.
Dear friend, what inspiration or thoughts
did you have after hearing this story.
If you were him, how would you answer? Do
you consider the position and mood of others before you speak?
I hope this story will give you some new
gains.
(His test score is a little worse than
mine)
