He tried his best to help everyone(磨頂放踵)
There is an important scholar in
Confucianism whose name is (Meng Ke).
There is a story in his book.
Someone asked him.
What do you think of the relationship
between a person and society?
He replied.
On this issue, there are currently three
mainstream views.
The first view is that we should take the
individual as the center, each of us is an independent individual.
Each of us should safeguard our own
interests, and we will not infringe on the interests of others.
If everyone has such a consensus, then the
whole society will be harmonious.
The second view is that we should be
group-centered, and each of us is a member of society.
We should not only consider our own interests.
We should sacrifice part of our own interests for overall development.
If everyone has such a consensus, then the
whole society will be harmonious.
The third view is that we should not be as
extreme as the first two. We should consider both personal interests and
overall interests.
He paused and continued.
From my point of view, I agree with the
third view.
The third view is like a businessman
holding a weighing pole to weigh. The businessman will adjust the position of
the weighing hammer and find the balance between the two. This is a fair and
feasible way.
But we have to distinguish. Some people
expressed their support for the third view, but these people took a weighing
pole but lacked a weighing hammer.
They lack a central idea and principle. So
they can't judge how to adjust a thing to the most balanced state.
These people will tell the first kind of people
that your views are too biased.
We should refer to the second view and find
a balance.
These people will tell the second kind of
people that your views are too biased. ,
We should refer to the first view and find
a balance.
Their statement sounds correct, but they
just want to make themselves appear correct.
The opinions they oppose seem fair, but
they will make everything impossible to move forward.
This idiom means that a person’s head is bald and his feet are broken. It is used to describe a person
doing his best for the benefit of everyone.
Dear friend, what inspiration or thoughts
did you have after hearing this story.
Which point of view do you agree with? What
do you think this objective judgment criterion should be?
I hope this story will give you some new
gains.
(He tried his best to help everyone)
