You come to me especially from afar(不遠千里)

You come to me especially from afar(不遠千里)

There is an important scholar in Confucianism whose name is (Meng Ke).

There is a story in his book.

Once, he was having a conversation with the king of the Wei Kingdom.

Said the king.

Old gentleman. You came to our kingdom from so far away. I am very happy. Why are you looking for me?

Do you want to tell me something that will benefit our kingdom?

He said with a smile.

What is the most beneficial thing for your kingdom, is it money and power?

The king nodded.

He said.

If everyone in a kingdom considers money and power first.

Then your kingdom will fall into crisis.

Said the king.

What crisis will our kingdom have?

He went on to say.

Human desires are endless. When a person has a hundred carriages, the person wishes to own a thousand carriages. When this person has a thousand carriages, he hopes to own 10,000 carriages.

If a person prioritizes money and power when doing something, then the person will be greedy and have no bottom line to seize and possess all the things he can obtain.

Said the king.

So what should I do.

He said.

I think the things that are most beneficial to a kingdom are not money and power, but justice and compassion.

I suggest you maintain justice and compassion. And lead by example. Justice and compassion can make a person be restrained and make a person respect the king and the elders in the family.

If everyone in a kingdom puts justice and compassion as priority considerations.

Then this kingdom will prosper.

This idiom is used to describe a person who is passionate about something and is not afraid of a long journey.

Dear friend, what inspiration or thoughts did you have after hearing this story.

What is the most important value in your life? What are you passionate about?

I hope this story will give you some new gains.

(You come to me especially from afar)
