Don't magnify my shortcomings deliberately(吹毛求疵)
During the Warring States Period in China,
a famous thinker (Han Fei), his book influenced the rulers of many kingdoms at
that time.
There is a paragraph in his book as
follows.
Someone asked him.
How do you think the leader of a kingdom
should govern his kingdom?
He replied.
I think a good leader should hold a macro
vision. He should focus on the whole rather than one-sided.
He should learn the wisdom of the Creator
by observing everything in this world.
He should use this wisdom to lead the
kingdom.
Let me give an example.
You see that the sky is vast enough to
cover the entire world.
You can see that the land is so broad that
so many animals can live on it.
All kinds of different kinds of soil are
stacked to form a high mountain.
Many different rivers converge into this
ocean.
The mindset of leaders should be the same.
The truth in nature is very simple, so
leaders should also set up a set of humane and clear legal rules for the people
to abide by.
After setting the boundaries of the law,
implement it in the simplest way.
The law should not be too detailed, and
should not deliberately treat the people's small flaws.
The law should not be too strict, and
proper and discussion space should be maintained.
After establishing these rules, the next
step is to actually enforce these laws.
to conclude. That is, managers should not
use subjective likes and dislikes to govern the people.
Instead, objective laws and regulations
should be used to govern the people.
Let the people know that if they obey the
law, they will be rewarded, and if they don’t obey the
law, they will be punished.
Let the people know that the responsibility
for honor and shame lies with themselves, not with others.
This idiom means Find faults, deliberately
magnifying the faults of others.
.
Dear friend, what inspiration or ideas do
you have after hearing this story.
Do you think a person should focus on the
strengths or weaknesses of others? How do you maintain objective rules to
manage your life?
I hope this story will give you a little
bit of gain.
(Don't magnify my shortcomings
deliberately)
