More than enough (綽綽有餘)
(The Book of Songs) is the earliest poetry
collection in China.
There are 305 poems in this book.
The poems were written over a period of 500
years, from the 11th century BC to the 6th century BC.
The content of these poems is mainly
divided into three categories.
The first category is the folk poetry from
all over China at that time
The second category is the poetry of the
Zhou Dynasty that ruled China at that time.
The third category is the poetry of the royal
family and nobles in the Zhou Dynasty.
This idiom comes from one of the poems.
Look at that bow and bowstring, if the
bowstring is not tightened, the bow cannot shoot arrows.
You and your brother should be like this
bow with the strings taut, and you should maintain a close relationship.
You are the leader of the whole kingdom,
and your actions are the example of all the people.
If you are estranged from your brothers,
the people of your kingdom will learn from you.
The whole kingdom will not be united.
If you and your brother are at peace with
each other, then you will feel more than enough.
If you and your brother hate each other,
you will feel jealous and afraid
You see there are many examples around you.
Many brothers don't love each other, they
hurt each other for power, they forget morality for money.
This idiom means more than enough.
Dear friends, what inspiration or thoughts
do you have after listening to this story?
Do you maintain peace with your brother or
family? Which one do you think is more important, morality or money?
I hope this story will give you something
new to gain.
綽綽有餘(More than enough)
