There is no cure

There is no cure

(The Book of Songs) is the earliest poetry collection in China.

There are 305 poems in this book.

The poems were written over a period of 500 years, from the 11th century BC to the 6th century BC.

The content of these poems is mainly divided into three categories.

The first category is the folk poetry from all over China at that time

The second category is the poetry of the Zhou Dynasty that ruled China at that time.

The third category is the poetry of the royal family and nobles in the Zhou Dynasty.

One of them is a poem in which a loyal minister offers his advice and counsel to the king. The minister's name is (Fan Bo).

The gist of a passage in this poem is as follows.

There have been recent famines and many calamities in our kingdom, why do you indulge in pleasure every day?

I make these suggestions out of my faithfulness and sincerity. Why do you arrogantly despise my advice?

You think I am an old man and my worries are superfluous, so you face the current crisis with an attitude of indifference.

You treat your people with violence, you are like a terminally ill person, and there is no medicine to cure you.

This idiom means that there is no cure.

This idiom is also used to describe a thing that cannot be saved.

Dear friends, what kind of inspiration or thoughts do you have after listening to this story?

Has anyone around you ever had an incurable terminal illness? If you were declared terminally ill by a doctor, how would you think you would deal with it?

I hope this story will give you something new to gain.

(There is no cure)
