This is a quick shortcut to get power and money(終南捷徑)

In the Tang Dynasty of China, there was a famous official whose name was (Lu Zangyong).

One of his stories is recorded in the history books.

He studied Taoism when he was young, and he hoped to become a supernatural being through his practice.

He and several of his good friends lived in seclusion on a mountain near the capital at that time. They ate simple food and wore simple clothes.

The name of this mountain is (Zhongnan Mountain).

The king at that time heard that he was a very capable man, so the king hired him as an official of the central government.

Attracted by the generous salary and power, he ended his seclusion and returned to the capital.

A few years later, the king invited a famous Taoist priest to the capital to publish his research experience on Taoism. The Taoist priest's name was (Sima Chengzhen).

The Taoist priest and he were good friends, and they used to live in seclusion together.

After this academic seminar, (Sima Chengzhen) will return to the mountain where he lives in seclusion, which is Tiantai Mountain in Zhejiang Province, 1,500 kilometers away.

He accompanied (Sima Chengzhen) outside the capital city, and before parting, he pointed at (Zhongnan Mountain) and said to (Sima Chengzhen).

This mountain where I used to live in seclusion is very good and very suitable for spiritual practice.

You can consider living in seclusion in this mountain, then we can meet often.

(Sima Chengzhen) said to him with a smile.

I thought that if I moved to this mountain, I would never be able to practice becoming a supernatural being, and my studies of Taoism would be stagnant.

This mountain is more suitable for those who want to get power and money quickly, those who do not really want to give up worldly desires.

When he heard this, a look of shame appeared on his face.

This idiom means that this is a shortcut to get power and money quickly.

Dear friends, what inspiration or thoughts do you have after listening to this story?

What kind of life did you want to live when you were young? Do you prefer to be (Sima Chengzhen) or ((Lu Zangyong)?
