This prime minister lives in the mountains.(山中宰相)

During the Northern and Southern Dynasties of China, there was a famous Chinese physician and Taoist priest whose name was (Tao Hongjing).

His story is recorded in the history books.

At the age of 36, he went to live in seclusion in the mountains.

The mountain he chose was a famous Taoist mountain.

During the Western Han Dynasty, three Taoist priests with the surname (Mao) practiced here, so the mountain was called Maoshan.

He made alchemy and forged swords on this mountain, and he also devoted himself to the knowledge of medicine, feng shui, numerology, and divination.

As he has achieved good results in these professional knowledge and skills, his fame is growing.

Many students came to learn from him, and many famous people came to visit him.

One of the most famous people was the founding king of the Nanliang Kingdom.

Because the Nanliang Kingdom was just established, there are many important policies in the kingdom that need to be formulated.

So the king often came to ask him for advice.

One day the king said to him.

I need your help very much and I value your opinion very much.

Are you willing to end your seclusion life and return to the capital of the Nanliang Kingdom to be my prime minister?

I will give you a high salary, I will also respect your opinion very much, and I will treat you very politely.

He smiled. He took out a picture and said to the king.

I had guessed that you would make this request, and here is my answer.

Please open this painting after you return to the palace.

After the king returned to the palace, he hurriedly opened the painting.

This painting shows two cows, one is grazing freely on the grass, and the other is being led by a man with a gold bridle on its head.

The king laughed. The king never made the same request again.

When there was some major policy in the kingdom, the king, as was customary before, consulted him from the capital to the mountain where he lived in seclusion.

The people of the King Nanliang Kingdom had a proverb at that time. Our prime minister does not live in the capital, our prime minister lives on Mount Mao.

This idiom is now used in a different way than it was originally intended.

This idiom is used to describe a person who is powerful enough to hold the position of prime minister, but he is not reused.

Dear friends, what inspiration or thoughts do you have after listening to this story?

What do you think the two cows in his picture represent? Who do you most often consult when you encounter something difficult to decide?

I hope this story will give you something new.

(This prime minister lives in the mountains.)
