He was a nobleman of the Qi Kingdom during
the Warring States Period in China.
There is a story about him in the history
books.
In order to strengthen their influence and
political power, the nobles at that time would hold dinner parties in their
homes every day, and they would entertain many guests every day.
As long as you have any kind of special
skill, you can live in the house he provides for free, and you eat and sleep
there every day, but if he needs it, you must provide your own skills.
These noble guests were friends with the
nobles rather than servants, and they were free to leave at will.
According to historical records, more than
3,000 guests of this type eat at his home every day.
He is as close as a friend to these guests,
and he treats each guest equally.
Because of this, he also got a nickname,
which is (Mengchang Jun).
He is a very warm person, and he is very
generous to the people around him.
He doesn't care about a person's
background, as long as a person has a special talent or a high moral level, he
will make friends with that person.
Because he does not despise others and does
not feel that he is better than others. So his friends like him very much.
When he was talking with his friends, he
would arrange for a secretary to record summaries of their conversations.
Sometimes, during the conversation, his
friend mentioned that his family or friend had financial difficulties, and he
took the initiative to help the friend's family or friend after the
conversation was over.
One day, at a dinner party, a guest
suddenly stood up angrily.
This guest thought that because of his low
status, the food he ate was particularly poor, and the guest felt that he was looked
down upon. The guest turned to leave the banquet hall.
He quickly stood up and pulled the guest,
he said to the guest.
We all eat the same thing, and I don't look
down on you.
He showed the guest the plate of food on
his table.
The guest was very ashamed when he saw the
food on his plate.
After a few minutes of silence, the guest
spoke to him.
I blame myself very much, you treat me so
justly, but I doubt you.
The guest drew his long sword and killed
himself.
Everyone at the scene was stunned.
He was so sad that he ordered his servants
to arrange a grand funeral for the guest.
Dear friends, what inspiration or thoughts
do you have after listening to this story?
Are you a person who treats friends
generously? Have you ever had the experience of doubting others because of
misunderstandings?
I hope this story will give you something
new to gain.
