This person is very vulgar(俗不可醫)
(Su Shi) is the most outstanding writer and
poet in Chinese history.
In 1073 AD, he and a monk friend visited a
temple in Hangzhou. There was a lot of bamboo planted in this temple. He liked
the atmosphere of this temple very much.
He wrote a poem.
I would rather not eat meat every day than
live in a place where bamboo is not grown.
Not eating meat every day makes a person
thin, not seeing bamboo every day makes a person vulgar.
With the help of drugs, a person can easily
change from thin to fat.
But there is no drug in the world that can
change a person from vulgar to elegant.
You may laugh at me for being too distant
and unrealistic.
But I don't think we can be refined and
vulgar at the same time.
Our lives are often like that, we can't
have everything at the same time, we have to make choices.
This idiom is used to describe a person who
is very vulgar.
Dear friend, what are your feelings or
thoughts after listening to this story?
Do you like bamboo? Do you think of
yourself as a vulgar person or an elegant person?
I hope this story can give you some new
insights.
(This person is very vulgar)
