He was a famous minister of the Cao Wei
Kingdom in the Three Kingdoms period, and there is a story about him recorded
in history books.
In 260 AD, the king of the Cao Wei Kingdom
held a secret meeting with him and two other ministers.
Said the king to them.
The most powerful military force in the
Kingdom of Cao Wei is in the hands of (Sima Zhao), and members of (Sima Zhao's)
family hold many important positions in the central government of the Kingdom
of Cao Wei.
I am the king of the Cao Wei Kingdom, but I
have no real power, I am like a puppet of (Sima Zhao).
I have trained a group of soldiers and I
want to make a surprise attack on (Sima Zhao).
Only by killing (Sima Zhao) can I regain
the power that originally belonged to me.
The other two ministers were silent after
hearing the king's words.
He said to the king.
Relying on its strong military power, Sima
Zhao's family has long controlled the Kingdom of Cao Wei.
Most of the officials in the central
government are appointed by him, and the officials he appoints are under his
command.
The number of soldiers you have trained is
very small. I think the success rate of the sneak attack on (Sima Zhao) is very
low. If the attack fails, you may even die.
I think we should rethink and make a whole
new set of plans, and we should be patient and wait for better times.
The king said angrily when he heard what he
had said.
I have made up my mind, and I will not
change it because of anyone's advice.
I'm not afraid of losing my life, I think I
have a good chance of winning.
The king did not take his advice.
A few days later, his prophecy came true
and the raid the king had planned failed and the king was killed.
He was also arrested by (Sima Zhao).
The other two ministers who attended the
king's meeting with him a few days ago were very clever.
When they saw that the situation was not
right, they immediately turned their backs on the king and swore allegiance to
(Sima Zhao).
He insisted on his own position, he was
responsible for his own conscience, he calmly accepted the arrangement of fate,
he was executed, but he was not afraid.
A few years after his death, (Sima Zhao)
also passed away, and the son of (Sima Zhao) founded the Jin Dynasty. The Cao
Wei Kingdom fell.
(Sima Zhao)'s son mentioned him in a public
speech.
(Sima Zhao)'s son said.
Wang Jing died adhering to the values he
believed in, and he was not afraid of death. Although he is not loyal to my
father, I think his behaviour is worth learning and setting an example for us.
Dear friend, what kind of inspiration or
thought do you have after hearing this story?
Do you think his death was worth it? If you
were him, would you choose to serve (Sima Zhao) or die?
I hope this story can give you a new
harvest.
