There is a famous hero in Chinese history.
His name is Xiang Yu.
He only lived for 30 years, and his
legendary life has been told by many Chinese people in later generations.
There is a story about him in the history
books.
The Qin Dynasty fell in 207 BC.
Xiang Yu was the leader of the
revolutionary army, the most powerful military force at that time. He dominated
the distribution of interests after the fall of the Qin dynasty.
He divided the whole of China into 18
regions for the leaders of 18 revolutionary armies. The leaders of these 18
revolutionary armies each established 18 kingdoms.
In 206 BC, there was a rebellion in the Qi
Kingdom. Xiang Yu led troops from the Kingdom of Chu to the Kingdom of Qi to
help quell the unrest.
In 205 BC, Liu Bang of the Han Kingdom
seized the opportunity when Xiang Yu brought his army into the Qi Kingdom. He
persuaded five other kingdoms to form a joint army with him.
They sent troops to attack the capital of
the Chu Kingdom that Xiang Yu had established, and they quickly occupied the
Chu capital.
Liu Bang and the leaders of the other five
kingdoms were very pleased.
They seized all the precious treasures in
the palace in the capital of the Chu Kingdom.
They held huge banquets with lots of wine
prepared in advance every day in the palace of the Chu Kingdom.
They enjoyed themselves to the full and let
their guard down because success came so easily.
When Xiang Yu received the news, he
immediately made a decision.
Xiang Yu ordered several of his generals to
stay with their troops in the Qi Kingdom and continue to fight.
He quickly returned to the Chu capital with
30,000 of his most elite troops.
Xiang Yu's attack on Liu Bang's combined
army came too quickly and suddenly.
More than 200,000 soldiers of Liu Bang's
combined army died in the battle.
The army of the Chu Kingdom led by Xiang Yu
won a great victory.

項羽所帶領這楚王國的軍隊贏得了巨大的勝利。
