There is a famous hero in Chinese history.
His name is Xiang Yu.
He only lived for 30 years, and his
legendary life has been told by many Chinese people in later generations.
There is a story about him in the history
books.
His uncle was the leader of the most
important revolutionary army in the Chu Kingdom.
His uncle found the royal heir of the
extinct Chu Kingdom and helped the royal heir to found a new Chu Kingdom.
His uncle used the appeal of the new Chu
king to attract more revolutionary troops to overthrow the rule of the Qin
dynasty. His uncle became the most powerful leader of all the revolutionary
armies.
In 208 BC, his uncle died in a war. He
inherited his uncle's military power and became the leader of the
400,000-strong army of the Chu Kingdom.
In 207 BC, the revolutionary army led by
Liu Bang took the lead in attacking and occupying the capital of the Qin
dynasty.
In the same year, Xiang Yu also entered the
Qin capital with an army of 400,000 men.
Xiang Yu was the person with the most
powerful military force among all the revolutionary armies at that time.
Xiang Yu made a speech to all the leaders
of the revolutionary army.
Three years ago, we started a revolution to
oppose the rule of the Qin Dynasty.
At that time, my uncle found the royal heir
of the destroyed Chu Kingdom and helped him establish a new Chu Kingdom.
For the past three years, we have been
wearing armour and wielding sharp weapons against the Qin Dynasty army.
Countless members of our revolutionary army
have lost their lives, and now we have finally overthrown the Qin dynasty.
Today we can win. Each of our revolutionary
troops has paid a heavy price. Unlike us, this new king of the Chu Kingdom has
never fought in a war. The new king of the Chu Kingdom has no credit.
But to show that we still respect him, I
think we should give the new king of Chu Kingdom a piece of land. Do you all
