You will personally destroy the Great Wall that protects you(自毀長城)

During the Northern and Southern Dynasties of China, there was a famous general in the Liu Song Kingdom, his name was (Tan Daoji).

There is a story about him recorded in the history books.

He was an excellent military strategist. Together with the founding king of the Liu Song Kingdom, he eliminated the later Qin Kingdom. He led the army to defeat the Northern Wei Kingdom many times.

After the founding king of the Liu Song Kingdom died, his son succeeded him on the throne.

Because (Tan Daoji) controlled the most important military power of the Liu Song Kingdom, and he had a very high reputation in the Liu Song Kingdom. Therefore, the new king believed that (Tan Daoji) would threaten his position.

The king's fear and jealousy overcame his reason and he made a decision.

In 436 AD, Wai announced the arrest of Tan Daoji. The king ordered the arrest because Tan Daoji was planning to commit treason.

When the soldiers who wanted to arrest (Tan Daoji) came to (Tan Daoji's) house, (Tan Daoji) was very shocked.

He couldn't believe that he was so loyal to the Liu Song Kingdom that the king had accused him of treason.

Sitting in his living room at home, he poured a large bowl of Chinese rice wine and drank it all in one gulp.

Then he took off his turban and threw it on the floor.

He looked up and said to the sky.

My king, do you really want to kill me?

Will you personally tear down the Great Wall that protects you?

After his arrest, he was quickly executed. Many of his family members and important members of his staff were also executed by the king.

This idiom means that you will personally tear down the Great Wall that protects you.

This idiom is used to describe a person who has personally destroyed the strong barrier that protects him or her.

(You will personally destroy the Great Wall that protects you(自毀長城)
