My mind is firm and unshakable(匪石之心)
(The Book of Songs) is China's earliest
collection of poetry.
There are 305 poems in the book.
The poems were written over a period of 500
years, from the 11th century BC to the 6th century BC.
The content of these poems is mainly
divided into three categories.
The first category is folk poetry from
different parts of China at that time.
The second category is the poetry of the
Zhou Dynasty, which ruled China at that time.
The third category is the sacrificial poems
used by the royal family and nobles of the Zhou dynasty.
At that time, there was a kingdom called
Bei.
A poem from this kingdom is recorded in the
Book of Songs. This poem has five parts, of which the second and third parts
have the following general meaning
My heart cannot reflect other people's
hearts like a mirror. I cannot know whether other people's thoughts are good or
bad.
Even if it is my brother who I grew up
with, I will never know what is going on in his heart.
I have told others about my problems, but I
have been severely rebuked.
I have decided that my heart is not like a
stone that can be moved. I will not be moved easily.
I have decided that my heart is not like a
bundle of straw mats that can be rolled up. I will not be changed easily.
I have finally made up my mind, and no one
can change the choice and decision I have made.
This idiom means that my mind is firm and
unshakable.

(My mind is firm and unshakable)
