He was a famous prime minister of the Wei Kingdom during the Warring States Period in China, and his story is recorded in history books.

At that time, a special percussion instrument was popular among the nobles of various kingdoms in China. The name of this percussion instrument was gongs.

The main purpose of the gongs is to accompany sacrifices, celebrations or banquets.

One day he attended a banquet given by the king.

He was the prime minister, so he sat next to the king.

He and the king were talking while they ate. Suddenly the king fell silent and turned his head to the side.

He asked the king.

Why did you suddenly stop talking and look so strange?

The king smiled at him.

While I was chatting, I suddenly heard a musician make a mistake in his performance.

The musician didn't hit a note correctly, so I was suddenly distracted.

He replied to the king with a smile.

There is an old saying which goes like this.

A king who knows how to listen to music will not be a king who has an eye for discovering capable people.

You can hear one of the musicians playing the glockenspiel wrongly in the noise, so I think you know how to listen to music.

If the old saying is true, then you will not be a king who has an eye for those who are capable.

When the king heard his question, he smiled and answered.

Your admonition is right. I should concentrate on finding better talents to help me run my kingdom. I should not spend my most important energy on eating, drinking and listening to music.

Dear friend, what inspirations or thoughts do you have after listening to this story?

What do you spend most of your energy on every day? If you were a king, would you be angry about what Tian Zifang said?

I hope this story can give you some new insights.
