他蒐藏的書中有很多書都是稀有的絕版書，因此當時很多學者如果要進行研究的時候都會來跟他借書。
有一次他搬家，他家中的書就裝了三十台牛車。
他很喜歡接觸一些年輕人，當他遇到一個很才華但是比較貧窮的年輕人時，他會盡自己的能力去提拔與幫助這個年輕人。
有一次，有兩個年輕人來拜訪他，這兩個年輕人的名字是陸機與陸雲。
這兩個年輕人來自長江下游，這兩個年輕人第一次來到晉王朝的首都。
他與這兩個年輕人見面之後聊得非常的開心，他對這兩個年輕人說。
我們雖然第一次見面，但是我覺得我們好像已經是認識很久的老朋友。
這兩個年輕人很開心地回答他。
我們兩個人出身於東吳王國的貴族家庭，我們從小接受了很好的教育，我們覺得我們懂得很多，我們認為我們自己非常的優秀，我們為自己的傑出感到驕傲。
但是今天我們遇到你，我們才知道我們懂得太少了，你的知識如此淵博，更重要的是你有非常好的品德。我們很榮幸可以地認識你。
