The Jin Dynasty of China is divided into
the Western Jin Dynasty (266 AD - 316 AD) and the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317 AD -
420 AD).
In 316 AD, the Western Jin Dynasty was
defeated by the army of the (former Zhao) Kingdom, and the king of the Western
Jin Dynasty was killed. The Western Jin Dynasty fell.
In 317 AD, a royal member of the Western
Jin Dynasty announced the establishment of the Eastern Jin Kingdom in Jiankang
City, Jiangsu Province, China.
During this chaotic period, there was a
minister of the Western Jin Kingdom. The name of this minister was (Deng You).
There is a story about him recorded in the
history books.
In 316 AD, after the defeat of the Western
Jin Dynasty, the capital of the Western Jin Dynasty was occupied by the former
Zhao Kingdom, and he was captured by the former Zhao Kingdom.
Because he was very righteous and talented,
the king of the former Zhao Kingdom did not kill him. The king of the former
Zhao Kingdom said to him
I think you are a very capable official and
I hope you will serve the former Zhao Kingdom.
He pretended to surrender.
A few months later, he found an
opportunity. One night, he took his wife, his child and his nephew, four in
all, and fled the capital.
He and many others fled to southern China.
Along the way, they were attacked by
bandits who stole their money and vehicles.
He and his family were lost in the deserted
mountains and the four of them had nothing to eat.
One day he said to his wife
In my opinion, if we insist on escaping
together, all four of us will die on this barren mountain.
I think we will have to throw away a child.
His wife looked at him sadly.
he continued to his wife.
My brother and sister-in-law both died in
the war and it is impossible for them to be resurrected.
So my nephew is their only descendant.
You and I are both still alive, and we will
still have a chance to have children in the future.
So I think we should abandon our own
children and take my brother's children and escape.
His wife burst into tears when she heard
what he had said, but she respected his decision.
The next day, as he tied his infant son to
a tree, he said to him
I love you very much and I am very
reluctant to leave you today.
I don't know what will happen to us. If
there is a chance, I hope we can meet again.
A few years later, he, his wife and his
nephew finally managed to escape to the Eastern Jin Kingdom.
Neither he nor his wife had any more
children. In order to preserve his younger brother's descendants, he ended up
having no descendants of his own.
But he has no regrets, he believes he did
the right thing.

所以我的姪子是他們唯一的後代

他的妻子聽到他的話後難過得大哭，但是他的妻子還是尊重他的決定。
隔天，他把他還是幼童的兒子綁在一棵樹上，他對他的兒子說。
我非常的愛你，我今天拋棄你是我非常不願意的事情。
我不知道我們兩個人的命運會如何，如果有機會，我希望我們還可以再次見面。
幾年後，他帶著他的妻子與他的侄兒終於成功逃到東晉王國。
他與他的妻子後來都沒有再生小孩，他為了保全他的弟弟的後代，結果他自已反而沒有後代。
但是他沒有後悔，他認為自己做的事情是對的。
當時的很多人知道這些事後都很敬佩他，這些人們也嘆息的說。
