Unstable mind and restless mental state(無顛無倒)
There are four novels in China that are
recognised by future generations as the most classic. One of the books is
called (Water Margin).
This book is one of the earliest
full-length novels written in colloquial Chinese in Chinese history.
In the Yuan Dynasty, there was a playwright
named Kang Jinzhi.
Kang Jinzhi created a four-act play based
on a chapter from Water Margin.
These two idioms are from the third act of
the play.
In the late Northern Song Dynasty of China,
officials in the central government were extremely corrupt.
These officials colluded with local evil
forces to persecute good people at the bottom of society.
At that time, many kind and honest people
had no choice but to become bandits, and these people gathered in a place
called (Liangshanbo) to fight against the government and the oppression of the
powerful.
The leader of Liangshanbo was called Song
Jiang. In Liangshanbo, there was a small leader called Li Kui.
One day, Li Kui personally accused Song
Jiang of doing a very shameless thing.
Song Jiang said to Li Kui
You said that I forced the daughter of a
man called Wang Lin to be my wife, and that I took this young girl away by
force.
But I have firmly stated that I did not do
this.
To prove my innocence, I am willing to
follow you to find the man called Wang Lin.
After Song Jiang and Li Kui arrived at the
inn that Wang Lin had opened, Li Kui said to Wang Lin
I have brought here the man who took your
daughter by force.
After seeing Song Jiang, Wang Lin said to
Li Kui
This man is not the man who took my daughter
by force.
After Li Kui heard what Wang Lin said, he
said to Wang Lin nervously and anxiously.
Stop joking. When I saw you earlier, you
said that Song Jiang had taken your daughter away by force.
At that time, you were so disturbed that
your mind was unstable and your mental state was restless. You were crying all
the time.
Now I have brought Song Jiang before you,
but you have actually reversed what you said before.
You actually said that Song Jiang did not
take your daughter by force.
I see, are you afraid because Song Jiang
looks so evil? You are afraid that if you accuse Song Jiang of being the one
who took your daughter away, Song Jiang will take revenge on you.
If that is the reason why you are afraid to
tell the truth, then I tell you not to worry.
I am here to protect you today, and I
guarantee that Song Jiang will not dare to take revenge on you.
After hearing Li Kui's words, Li Lin
helplessly said to Li Kui
I appreciate your kindness, but the man you
brought is really not the man who took my daughter away by force.
My daughter was indeed taken away by a man
called Song Jiang, but the man called Song Jiang was not the man in front of
me.
This idiom is used to describe a person's
unstable mind and restless state of mind.

中國有四本被後代公認為最經典的小說。其中一本書名叫做(水滸傳)。
這本書是中國歷史上最早用口語化的中文寫成的長篇小説之一。
元王朝有一個劇作家，這個劇作家的名字叫做康進之。
康進之針對水滸傳中的一個章節，再創作出一部四幕劇。
這兩句成語就是出於其中第三幕戲劇。
中國的北宋王朝末年，中央政府裡面的官員非常的貪腐。
這些官員勾結地方上的惡勢力一起迫害社會底層的善良的老百姓。
當時有許多善良與正直的人不得已成為強盜，而這些人聚集在一個叫做(梁山泊)的地方，他們對抗政府，抵抗當權者的壓迫。
梁山泊的領袖的名字叫做宋江。梁山泊中有一個小頭目的名字叫做李逵。
有一天，李逵當面指責宋江做了一件非常無恥的事。
宋江對李逵說。
你說我強迫一個名字叫做王林的男人的女兒做我的妻子，我強行帶走了這個年輕的女孩子。
但我堅決表示我沒有做這件事情。
我為了證明自己的清白所以我願意跟著你一起去找那一個名字叫做王林的男人。
宋江與李逵到了王林所開的小客棧之後，李逵對王林說。
我已經把強行帶走你女兒的男人帶到這裡。
王林看到宋江後，他對李逵說。
這個男人並不是那一個強行帶走我女兒的男人。
李逵聽到王林的話後，他又緊張又著急的對王林說。
你不要開玩笑了，我之前看到你的時候，你說你的女兒被宋江強行帶走了。
你那個時候煩惱到心思不穩定而且精神狀態不安寧，你那個時候不停地流淚。
我現在把宋江帶到你的面前，但你竟然推翻你之前所說的話。
你竟然說宋江沒有強行帶走你的女兒。
我知道了，你是不是因為宋江長相很兇惡所以你感到恐懼，你擔心如果指證宋江就是那個帶走你的女兒的人，那麼之後宋江會找你報仇。
如果是這個原因才讓你不敢說實話，那麼我告訴你你千萬不要擔心。
今天我在這裡保護你，我保證宋江不敢找你報仇。
李林聽完李逵的話後，他很無奈的對李逵說。
我很謝謝你的好意，但是你帶來的這個男人真的不是強行帶走我的女兒的那個男人。
我的女兒的確被一個名字叫做宋江的男人強行帶走，但是那個名字叫做宋江的男人並不是我面前的這個男人。
這一句成語被用來形容一個人心思不穩定而且精神狀態不安寧。
