You're talking nonsense(胡言亂語)

 You're talking nonsense(胡言亂語)

There are four novels in China that future generations will recognise as the most classic. One of the books is called (Water Margin).

This book is one of the earliest full-length novels written in colloquial Chinese in Chinese history.

In the Yuan Dynasty, there was a playwright named Kang Jinzhi.

Kang Jinzhi created a four-act play based on a chapter from Water Margin.

These two phrases are from the second act of the play.

There is a man called Wang Lin. His wife has died and she and her daughter have opened a small inn. One day, his daughter was taken away by force by two men, one of whom claimed to be the leader of Liangshanbo (Song Jiang). Wang Lin felt panic and grief.

A few hours later, a dark-skinned and strong male customer came to his inn.

He told this male customer about it.

This male customer is a small boss in Liangshan Bozhong, and his name is (Li Kui).

Li Kui is a very impatient person, and he is very ruthless in doing things, but he is also a very honest person with a sense of justice.

When he heard what Wang Lin said, he was very angry.

He felt that Song Jiang should not do such an unjust thing.

Although Song Jiang was the leader of Liang Shanbo, Li Kui felt that he had the responsibility to condemn Song Jiang face to face.

So after leaving the inn, he immediately ran back to Liangshanbo.

When he returned to Liangshanbo, he saw a flag hanging from the tall flagpole in front of the camp gate. This flag said that we would uphold justice in the world and help the poor in the name of the Creator.

After seeing this flag, he felt even more unhappy.

He took out the axe he was carrying and chopped off the flagpole. The huge flagpole broke and fell, making a great noise.

Everyone in Liangshanbo heard this loud noise. Song Jiang and everyone else in Liangshanbo ran to the camp gate to see what had happened.

After Li Kui saw Song Jiang, he angrily said to Song Jiang

You actually did something so obscene that you forced a very young girl to marry you.

Song Jiang said to him doubtfully after hearing his accusation.

How can you talk such nonsense? I didn't do that.

Li Kui became even more angry when he heard his answer, and he said to Song Jiang

You should stop hiding it and stop making excuses.

I'm so angry. I used to respect you a lot, but what you have done makes me look down on you. You disappoint me so much.

This idiom is used to describe a person who is talking nonsense.

Dear friend, what inspirations or thoughts do you have after listening to this story?

Have you ever been misunderstood? Have you ever made a mistake that you regretted because of your recklessness?

I hope this story can help you gain something.

(You're talking nonsense)
