In the Yuan Dynasty of China, there was a
mysterious playwright who wrote many plays. His name was Zheng Tingyu.
He wrote more than 23 plays, most of which
are lost.
Of his only five surviving plays, one is
based on a historical story between the Chu Kingdom and the Wu Kingdom in
China's Spring and Autumn Period.
The outline of the story in the fourth act
of the play is as follows
During the Spring and Autumn Period in
China, the king of the Wu Kingdom lost his sword called Zhanlu.
After investigating, the king of the Wu
Kingdom discovered that the sword was actually in the hands of the king of the
Chu Kingdom.
As the king of the Chu Kingdom was
unwilling to return the sword, the Wu Kingdom sent a general named Wu Zixu to
lead an army of 400,000 men to attack the Chu Kingdom.
As the Wu army was too strong, the Chu
capital was captured a few weeks later.
The king of the Chu Kingdom fled the
capital with his family.
Wu Zixu was born in Chu Kingdom. His father
and brother were once important ministers of the Chu Kingdom.
The king of the Chu Kingdom listened to the
lies of some traitorous ministers, so he ordered the death of Wu Zixu's father
and brother, and Wu Zixu fled to the Wu Kingdom.
When Wu Zixu returned to the capital of the
Chu Kingdom with the army of the Wu Kingdom, he thought of his dead father and
brother. The hatred in his heart burned like fire and he ordered the royal tombs
of the Chu Kingdom to be dug up.
He flogged the body of the dead king of the
Chu Kingdom.
At the same time, an envoy from the Chu
Kingdom (Shen Baoxu) arrived in the capital of the Qin Kingdom.
Shen Baoxu begged the King of Qin to send
Qin's army to help the Chu Kingdom.
After much deliberation, the King of Qin
did not agree to Shen Baoxu's reques
Shen Baoxu did not leave the Qin capital.
He went on a hunger strike outside the Qin Palace for seven days.
Seven days later, the King of Qin summoned
Shen Baoxu again.
The King of Qin said to Shen Baoxu
You have been crying outside my palace for
seven days in a row, and I have been moved by you.
I am willing to change my decision. I will
send a general who is good at fighting in our kingdom and lead one of the most
elite troops in our kingdom to the Kingdom of Chu to help the Kingdom of Chu
against the army of the Kingdom of Wu.
The King of Qin then summoned this general,
who was very good at fighting, to the palace. The King of Qin said to the
general
I order you to immediately lead our most
elite army of 100,000 men and Shen Baoxu to the Kingdom of Chu to fight against
the Kingdom of Wu. Are you sure you can win this battle?
The general replied.
I am grateful for this opportunity.
Wu Zixu humiliated me once. He bullied me
to an extent I could not bear.
I will fight cautiously and defeat the army
of the Kingdom of Wu led by Wu Zixu. I am confident that we can win this war.
This idiom is used to describe one person
bullying another to an extent that the other person cannot tolerate.

楚王國的國王與他的家人們逃離首都。
伍子胥出生於楚王國，他的的父親和哥哥曾經是楚王國的重要大臣。
楚王國的國王聽信一些奸詐的大臣的謊話所以下令殺了伍子胥的父親與哥哥，伍子胥也因此逃到吳王國。
當伍子胥帶著吳王國的軍隊再次回到楚王國的首都的那一天，他想到他死去的父親與哥哥，他心中的恨意像火一樣燃燒，他下令挖開楚王國的皇室墳墓。
他用鞭子鞭打楚王國已經死去的國王的屍體。
在此同時，有一個名字叫做(申包胥)的楚王國的使者到了秦王國的首都。
申包胥懇求秦王國的國王派出秦王國的軍隊協助楚王國。
秦王國的國王考慮後沒有答應申包胥的請求。
申包胥沒有離開秦王國的首都，他在秦王國的皇宮外面連續絕食了七天。
七天後，秦王國的國王再度召見申包胥。
秦王國的國王對申包胥說。
你連續七天在我的皇宮外面不停地哭泣，我被你所感動了。
我願意改變我的決定，我將派遣我們王國中一個很會打仗的將軍並且帶領我們王國中最精銳的一支軍隊前往楚王國協助楚王國對抗吳王國的軍隊。
秦王國的國王接著召見這個很會打仗的將軍到皇宮中，秦王國的國王對這個將軍說。
我命令你立刻帶領我們最精銳的10萬人的那支軍隊與申包胥前往楚王國對抗吳王國。你有信心打贏這場仗嗎?
這個將軍回答。
我很感謝你給我這個機會。
伍子胥曾經羞辱過我，以前他欺凌我到讓我無法容忍的程度。
我會謹慎的作戰，我會打贏伍子胥所帶領的吳王國的軍隊。我有信心打贏這場戰爭。
