If you want to resist the extreme cold, you should wear furs. If you want to prevent others from slandering you, cultivate your moral character.

If you want to resist the extreme cold, you should wear furs. If you want to prevent others from slandering you, cultivate your moral character.

During the Three Kingdoms period in China, there was a famous minister in the Cao Wei Kingdom, his name was (Wang Chang).

There is a story about him in the history books.

He attached great importance to the education of children and wrote an article for his two sons.

One of the passages in the article is as follows

When we hear bad rumours about others, we should not spread these bad rumours.

When we hear others criticising our words or actions as inappropriate, we should first look at ourselves.

If there is really something wrong with our words or actions, we should humbly accept criticism from others and not feel resentful towards those who criticise us.

If there is nothing wrong with our words or actions, then the criticism of others is fictitious and untrue, and we do not need to hold it in our mind.

We don't need to fight back against other people's criticism of us, and we don't need to get angry because of other people's fictitious and untrue criticism, because if we do, we will trigger more violent slander and attacks on you.

We should keep our distance from those who like to gossip and slander others, and we should not get close to these people. Because being close to these people can cause us harm.

There is no way you can discuss what truth and justice are with these people. These people speak without basis and behave unethically.

There is a proverb that I think is very wise and I share it with you.

If you want to resist the extreme cold, you should wear furs. If you want to prevent others from slandering you, you should cultivate your moral character.

The literal translation of this proverb is that if you want to resist the extreme cold, you should wear furs, and if you want to prevent others from slandering you, you should cultivate your moral character.

Dear friend, what inspirations or thoughts do you have after listening to this story?

Have you heard these sayings that you think are wise? What would you do if someone slandered you?

I hope this story can give you some new insights.
