People whose professions are theatre and music performances(梨園弟子)

There was a famous king in China's Tang Dynasty. He was king for 44 years. His name was Li Longji. There is a story about him in the history books.

Li Longji became the seventh king of the Tang Dynasty at the age of 27.

He showed talent in politics. He appointed many ministers who were very loyal, upright and capable to help him rule the Tang Dynasty. Under his rule, the Tang Dynasty became very prosperous and powerful.

Because the Tang Dynasty was very prosperous, various cultural activities were very flourishing.

At that time, within the central government system, there was a department specifically responsible for music. This department specialised in cultivating talents who could use ancient Chinese traditional instruments to perform ancient Chinese classical songs.

Li Longji believed that there were many contemporary pop music and drama performances that were very good, so he set up a new school in a place called Liyuan in the capital.

He selected hundreds of young people to enter this school to study contemporary music and drama.

Li Longji often goes to the school to check on the young people's learning conditions and listen to the works and performances they create.

Since Li Longji has a high level of musical ability, after listening to these performances, he will give his opinions directly to these young people.

Because Li Longji's opinions are very professional, these young people respect Li Longji a lot.

These young people said to Li Longji, "You are our most important mentor, and we are all your students.

Because Li Longji liked music so much, there were some very loyal ministers who told him at that time.

As a king, you should focus your energy on running this huge kingdom and avoid spending too much time on music.

After Li Longji heard the opinions of these ministers, he was not angry. He smiled and said to these ministers

I am very grateful that you are willing to make these suggestions to me. I know I should spend more time thinking about how to run this huge country.

But you may not understand why I like music so much, so I will tell you how I feel.

I have to run this huge country and I feel a lot of pressure every day.

I think music is a very important channel for me to express my stress, so I will not stop this hobby.

The literal translation of this idiom means those students of Li Longji who studied in Liyuan.

This idiom is used to describe those who make a career out of theatre and music performances.

Dear friend, how do you feel or what do you think after listening to this story?

What are your special hobbies? When you are stressed, how do you relieve your stress?

I hope this story can give you some new insights.

(People whose professions are theatre and music performances)
